twin turbo kit on FC motor?
Can anyone help me out here? I'm curious how similar the FC and FD motors are, and want to know if a twin turbo upgrade for an FD will mount to an FC? Are there other modifications or fabrications besides the kit that I need to take into consideration?
a kit for the fd to fit onto a tII motor would need to clear the intake manifolds and the frame rails of the car. There would need to be enough space in its configuration for everything to work properly and clear around things already in the bay. So best bet if you want twins is to fab up a manifold yourself. If you cant handle that one then stick to something simpler. Twins honestly wont gain you anything extra besides a bit of weight and some looks when you tell people. Find the right sized turbo for what you want and youd prob be better off
This car is just going to be a fun daily, so I just want the low end torque to spank all the v8 lovers out here from traffic light to traffic light. Horsepower isn't as great of a concern. I just want really quick spooling for more torque. Plus I want to be unique, and it doesn't get much more unique than a a twin turbo setup on a rhd jmd fc rx-7. And the turbos don't need to be FD specific. I just need two smaller sized turbos so I can have quicker spooling that can put out 10lbs of boost all day long as a daily driver. The manifold fabrication won't be a problem, so other than that and the fitment for the down pipe, do you guys see any other issues? Do you know if I will need some kind of engine management system since it's not programmed for a twin turbo set up, or should it be ok?

The T25's were great. I wouldn't bother trying to use the stock fd twins. As the others have said they just won't fit well. As for ecu I like running the pfc with the banzai adapter harness. It works great and it's a lot easier than doing a whole new harness. Unless your stock eng harness is fried of course. Just be sure to read up before you start making the manifold if that's the route you go. It will save you headaches down the road. Best of luck.
