I have an 87 turbo II and ofcourse the housing on the exhaust side has more cracks than you can imagine. I found a turbo on the rx7 store website for like $600. They also have an stage I upgrade for a 89-91 for about the same price. What would be the best way to go? Or do you know of any cheaper sites for turbos?

Are you talking about the engine rebuild/upgrade? That's what I would do first.. go with the rebuild and then think about a turbo upgrade later on.. cracks in the exhaust housing isn't good.

First, the RX7store isnt the best way to go about ordering a part. They dont try to rip people off I dont think, but so many have had problems with them. I only had a minor problem with them in that they forgot to send the rear pads when I ordered a set of Hawks for my TII.

The "best" way of going would be to get a new aftermarket or custom manifold and turbo of your choice. Then probably an engine rebuild, haltech or other EMS, among other upgrades.

Or if you are on a budget, you could get a BNR hybrid, buy a used 89-91 manifold, get a retuned factory ECU, bigger secondaries, fuel pump upgrade, and an SAFC to fine tune. You will still probably want the engine rebuild though.

Oh, one more thing. I would go ahead and pick up a good condition 89-91 turbo and manifold. You can replace your cracked manifold that way, plus have a slight upgrade until you decide what to do about future mods. 89-91 turbo and manifolds can be had anywhere from $150-$300

I got mine off a guy who got one with his J-spec and wasnt using it. Had 30k on it and was in mint condition for $270.

Yea...you can also get a full gt35/40 kit from me

seriously though...just pick up an s5 turbo&manifold and slap it on...that'll hold you over til you decide what you want in your setup....

I can. You should have seen my S4 manifold, huge, deep, open cracks.

Exactly what I did. Turned out to be a great upgrade, and cheap, since I found both for ~$250.
