Two days ago i was drivnig up my street and within 5 seconds a really loud sound came from the exhaust. It sounded like it came from the turbo or exhaust manifold. Sure enough there was a half inch hole in the exhaust manifold. I believe it was put there by the factory because it had a smooth surface like something was pressed in. When I took the turbo and the manifold apart a piece fell out. What I think it is, is a device to reduce turbo lag by closing one of the two holes kind of like a simpler version of the newer variable venturi valves. I may be wrong, but that seems like a logical explanation for what it does. Does any one know exactly what it is? Where can i get a new one?
Thanks

Are you sure it isn't part of your waste gate? Meaning the metal peice that opens and closes to keep boost pressure constant. If you have a FSM check the engine section and look at the turbo diagram and see if you can locate the part.
