I just bought my car yesterday. It's a 90 TII with 30k on the motor and 24k on the rest. Basically, as I explained in an earlier post, my car seems to hold vacuum well, but when it comes time to boost, the turbo spools but it doesn't feel like it's boosting and the gauge then dials out to 0-100mmHg. What should I do first to try to fix this? Again, I can hear the turbo spool a little... it's not grinding. I can also hear it hiss. This makes me believe it's a vacuum leak... so my first choice would be silicone hoses... BUT, i don't know enough about the situation yet. (No aftermarket boost gauge.) Oh, and the car has new full exhaust and high flow cats. Could it be the wastegate? Hoses? What should I do first?

More than likely a boost guage, Better get some fuel mods too, because once it starts boosting, your gonna pop that motor..

check the acctuator rod on the turbo, this is a common overlooked problem. The turbo will spool up, but the wastegate flap is hanging wide open bypassing all the gasses causing a no boost condition. Is there a heavy black smoke exiting the rear in the area you should be boosting in the RPMs? Have you pulled off the air filter inlet tube to the turbo and checked if the turbo is free spinning? Although I have not heard of it yet on a 13b, but there is also the possibility you sheared the exhaust wheel off the turbo (common problem on Nissan Garret Ceramic turbo's) Check the intercooler piping as well, with no load it may be just fine, but under boost it may be blowing open a piping junction enough to lose the boost.

ive seen one fc turbo that shed the blades on the exhaust wheel. it had some pretty serious abuse put onto it for a long time.
