Is the turbo bad if it whines when spooling up? It's probaly a dumb question but I'm trying to get opinions

Some whining is normal. Just listen to some of the FD owners on this forum!



Seriously, I think all turbos make a whining noise to some extent.

Every turbocharged car I've even owned, driven, or been around has some degree of whine.



This isn't going to help you too much, but I'd worry if the whine was "too loud."

Yeah I'm afraid that the whine is too loud. First time I experience that type of sound versus my old turbo that had a bad seal and was leaking oil.
