Transmission

Anyways, im on my third or fourth, (lost count) N/A tranny on my S4 Base. I want to get some hardened synchros and some quicker (maybe miata?) gears in the beast for my final tranny when i do my first rebuild. One question is where to get hardened or harder synchros and so forth? I have one link to some rebuild kits but i dont see anything but OEM or OEM like parts on there, no performance which is at www.drivetrain.com . If anyones got anymore links to sites about performances transmission stuff that'd be awsome. Thanks guys.

Do you have more than 250hp??? I'm going to assume you know how to shift, or shouldn't I? I have never heard of someone busting so many n/a trannies.. I have never heard of hardening the synchro either cuz no one ever needs that.. I'm not trying to sound like a jackass either.

I wouldn't go that far. I am on my second tranny in my AE, put a second in the 84, kraig needs to replace his, Travis needs to replace his. 4 or 5 does seem like a lot, but in the same respect i wouldn't say hte mazda tranny's are any where near bulletproof.
I would try the cryo treatment on the tranny parts, I think it costs a couple hundred and is supposed to harden the **** out of the parts. Pineapple also has a much stronger tranny avail, you can find that at http://pineappleracing.com for a proven stronger bet, pineapple is the way to go.

Thanks guys. No, i might have say 200 to the flywheel if that, (havnt dynoed it), but yeah im pretty rough on trannys, so are all my freinds as well as im sure other people are. Yeah i read something about a cryo treatment but didnt know that pineapple did the treatment. i would rather just buy a set of hardened synchros if i could and just use them (as i think they might be cheaper than buying stock ones and then having them treated).
Another thing, i dont mean 4 or 5 in this same car, i mean 4 or five out of all the Rx7s ive had (three) Alright, thanks

My old n/a tranny had 150k on it, shifted perfect everytime, raced daily. But at one point at our university meet, we had 10 n/a(s) there and everyone had the originall tranny, in good condition.

stop launching at redline u should be fine, its slower anyway, learn to slip the clutch
Time to ask the knowledgable "Evil Forum" as you guys call it if all im going to get is "stop doing something you arnt doing and i have now idea what im talking about" responses. Thanks for those who have helped.
Rotaryman13B- Yes you can use a TII transmission so long as you either change the bell housings and tail housings (use the tail shaft) i THINK that'll work, or you can do a whole conversion with the TII clutch/flywheel/PP along with a TII driveshaft and rear end and half-shafts. But, im trying to avoid all that fuss and just build a strong "N/A" transmission with stronger synchs. I dont really have a problem with the gears messing up, its the synchromesh from banging the gears.
Kahren- Ill pick up some Redline and see if that helps any, i need to change the fluid in the rear soon anyways so when i do that ill go ahead and change the tranny fluid, flush, and put redline in. You guys know where i can get ahold of some of that around town or would i have to order it offline? I asked "AutoZone" and they didnt know where i could get any, but we all know how intellegent those people can be. Thanks
