I just read somewhere that when I swap from S4 to S5 rotors I will have to change the flywheel too (I already knew this) but also, when I change the flywheel/clutch, do I have to change the transmission too?

Correctamundo. And... if you have an aftermarket flywheel as I do... you'd only need to change the counterbalance to match the rotors, not the entire flywheel. Oh, and all trannies 86-91 and I think but am not sure the 3rd gens as well all bolt up to the same pattern. So any tranny is interchangable with any other RX-7 tranny. The turbo trannies are noticeably stronger not only in external appearance but in internal engineering as well. People have snapped NA transmissions in stock NA vehicles, but then there are a few turbo or supercharged NA units running around working just fine as well. But the TII tranny is much harder to break.

Absolutely. In fact, if its for that pretty Red Thang in your sig, I'd strongly recommend you do so. That car looks so fast, you'll probably pop an NA tranny sitting still. Hehe.... no seriously, the TII trannies are more durable and you'll have less worries about them so I say go for it 100%. But they are hard to find so good luck.

Well I'm just using the POS S4 tranny that came with the blown motor that was first in my car.
After installing an S5 short-block, it only makes sense then to get an S5 tranny? Are there any differences in the gearing? Maybe more top-end perhaps? I dunno.
Thanks for the compliment, DigitalSynthesis...she is pretty quick.

Whew, I was afraid I'd have to buy a whole new tranny. My car isnt modded much and as its my DD, it probably never will be. When I get a project car though, I will be sure to use a turbo tranny. Are there any diffs between S4 and S5, either on the n/a of turbo trannys?
