Hadn't seen the posts, I'm not on everyday. Anyway, yeah its KMH 200 kilometers per hour in 5th gear. That's it. I'm thinking its a computer chip problem. It doesn't make sense to me and I don't like it. Anyway, since you guys answered in full force. I'll ask about chips. So far, all I did was remove the 3 cats on my 86 RX7 non turbo. I put a straight pipe in their place. A couple of Dynaflow in the rear. Couple of things:
- I want to know what to do next, computer chip
- the car smells like its running rich, you guys know anything about that?
There is very little backpressure, the car sounds good, and runs good. Gimme your comments

well since its an 86 with no back pressure your 5th and 6th ports arent opening which will decrease top end power. As for the running rich if its just the smell of the exhuast that makes you think that, then its a natural thing for the rotary. Hope my answers make sense.

I don't believe there are too many cars made that will redline in 5th. It's a simple matter of not enough power. The maximum speed for a lot of cars is at redline in 4th. Fifth is just there to save gas. I wouldn't worry about it.

yup, you either need to produce ALOT more power to be able to accelerate in the overdrive gear or change the ratio to be shorter, but since 4th is 1:1 anything taller will be overdrive, would be nice to have a 5 speed with 5th 1:1 and the rest close ratio in an FC, 1:1 with a 9-10k revving 13B is still quite fast top speed.

****, that's awesome feedback. Guess I'll just have to get on the highway and see what the car will do in 4th gear at or above redline, depending how I feel that day. Awesome forum, I'll be back for more info, thanks. - RotaryCrazy
