Timing problem

88 rx7

After engine rebuild set timing first mark-5 on crank pulley and pull cas set on point and reinstall crank engine sounds like it wants to start stop cranking check cas and timing is now 180 degrees any help

i've read that you can install the timing gear backwards, which would put the timing 180º off. so maybe try deliberately setting it (the CAS) 180º off and see if it starts and runs.

I look into the cas gear no difference diabolica1 but as I put front cover I make sure to tdc the engine before installing the harmonic balancer re stab the cas and crank got car started but after about a minute it shut off if I disconnect the fuel pump and crank it starts up then I reconnect fuel pump car stays on for a minute then shuts off.... It's time to find a Haltech sport 1k tuner.
