Is it time for a Clutch
My motor is comin' out for a re-build, and I'm thinking of what else to replace/upgrade while its out. How do you tell if the cluch is getting worn down to replacement levels? Its a 1991 n/a, with 115k on it. I dont abuse the car, but it is my daily driver. Should I replace the clutch?
Its getting a streetport, so It wont need much more holding power over stock? What do you guys think? New ACT street/strip OR stay with the good ole' stock thats already there?
The clutch engages fairly high up, but I dont feel any slippage (before the motor died at least).
Are FC hydraulic or mecanical clutches?
thanks

Fc's have hydrualic clutches. You should change it b/c you've got the motor out (no labor costs) and b/c you're increasing your horsepower. Trust me the stock one won't hold alot more power past stock. The ACT is a good clutch. Besides if the clutch goes on you later you will be kicking youself in the *** for not donig it when the engine was being rebuilt. You'll really kick youself when you see the bill. IMO change it now.
There are grooves in the face of the clutch disc, usually when the grooves disappear, its time for a new clutch...
while the engine is out a lightweight flywheel, and an upgraded clutch/pressure plate, would be nice additions. Servicing the hydrualic clutch system isnt a bad idea either, while your at it

What is the difference in the ACT street/strip, the 4 puck, and the 6 puck clutch? I know about their driving characteristics. But my question is more technical...Visually, whats the difference??? Can they be differentiated just by looks?
