thinking on starting this AWD FC3S project, just wanted to post this to c if anyone else has any tips of advice when it come down to it. the AWD set up will b coming off a b2600

4wd setup, car hasnt been decided but im hoping to find a 10 AE. spoke to a few people about it and they also thought of this idea. now its just the matter of finding the car to put all this is, of course still gonna b a rotary FC, just with AWD. im figuring it would b a sweet ass winter ride considering my summer ride has finally been finished, i will post some pics once i get some on my comp. but i really think that this car would b an awesome proect that few people have actually done before. im always up for suggestions, also gimme some input on what you think about it

BoneT2&Harmony 03-12-2005 10:00 AM

same here: http://mrec.rotary.net.nz/millen/millen.htm

Ry89FC3S 03-12-2005 10:03 AM

sweet im not only one with awesome ideas, then again that is a rally car... so they pretty much needed awd, this is going to b my daily driver winter car as my GXL takes a break for a couple of months, well when its winter again, i got like 9 months to start and finish her, at this rate ill be happy just to start the project

Thats why Rod Millen is the man.

Ry89FC3S 03-12-2005 10:08 AM

tru tru, lol

Seppuku 03-12-2005 11:33 AM

your going to drive an AE during the winter while you park a gxl in the garage?

cymfc3s 03-12-2005 12:06 PM

keep in mind, that millen fc, if driven on dry pavement with sticky tires would have broken the drivetrain.

Ry89FC3S 03-12-2005 12:54 PM

yea but im not going to go crazy on the power, just enough to dust the few STi's around here, and i might switch it to the GXL awd and AE as my summer car, but that is the line up i really want, just cant find a junker AE

Shane.Trammell 03-12-2005 12:55 PM

why does it need to be ae? just find a junker s4 tii. also, you do know you can "dust" STIs without awd right?

Ry89FC3S 03-12-2005 12:58 PM

**** yea i can **** up an STi but there is this one that i havnt seen anyone touch, and for it to b a awd fc, would b incredible for me, and i want a AE for my line up of cars, doesnt have to be an AE just really want one

Shane.Trammell 03-12-2005 12:59 PM

crazy to build a car just to beat one car

Ry89FC3S 03-12-2005 01:00 PM

yea but when hes pulling 8.9 down a quarter and since he is the only true tuner where i live, its just a pride thig i guess

Ry89FC3S 03-12-2005 01:14 PM

maybe ill turn a vert into AWD, then again verts scare the **** out of me, that simple fact of nothing protecting me from flying out the som bitch

Ry89FC3S 03-12-2005 01:26 PM

still just want some input, to see if this is a good idea, and if i should even bother with it, already got a b2600 4wd in line for me to buy and pick up on monday, just looking for the other half that i need, pretty much, im just posting this, to c if anyone else likes the idea

DAharon 03-12-2005 01:32 PM

You want to use the awd setup (or at least just the front half) from the b2600?

I can't remember if they had solid axles in the front. Something tells me they must have.

Does anyone know if the trannies from the awd are the same as the trannies from the 2x4?

Ry89FC3S 03-12-2005 01:35 PM

drivetrain coming from a b2600, going to use a miata rear end upside down as the front, its small enough to tuck under the motor, TY mazdaspeed7 for pointing that out

nightwolf_4_98 03-12-2005 01:49 PM

i think it's a pretty cool concept, least he aint puttin it in a honda! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/happy.png

Ry89FC3S 03-12-2005 01:59 PM

at least someone is liking my idea, thats all i needed, i know its gonna b a bitch to do but i figured its gonna b the only way to have a CUSTOM car

Rob x-7 03-12-2005 02:57 PM

why not just put a rotory in the B2600

Ry89FC3S 03-12-2005 03:24 PM

cause i love FCs, plus i already got a truck that i drift with cant use another one.... well i could but nah, i want more cars not little trucks

Cheers! 03-12-2005 04:03 PM

You don't need awd to beat a STI. you just need 350 HP and a good launch.

Rob x-7 03-12-2005 04:09 PM

the handling will probably be pretty shitty on the AWD RX-7, it will probably sit like a truck anyhow, why not just build a truck, or at the least do it to a GXL, paint it all white to look like a AE.

Dont you think that you are going to have a tough time getting numbers like that? Not nocking you at all here, really like the idea, but that seems a little difficult.

wear your seat belt

Ry89FC3S 03-12-2005 05:47 PM

all good, its just i really wanted to do some thing that someone has not never done, but something that is completly original, and its all good my plan fell through anyhow, i was talked out of the whole idea for the simple fact that the money involved is going to way to much I WILL DO IT IF I WIN THE LOTTEREY! just realizing that the whole project multiple cars, and all the custom fabrications are going to b for the most part a waste of time and money expecially for someone like me, the idea is sound if i was able to grab the right parts and the rights mechanics to assist me, Mazdaspeed7 would have built it for me but the price tag is way up there, plus ive been looking at the diagrams of the chassis of a rx7 and there is almost now play, or anywhere to move something to its needed locations, it was an awesome idea, and a awesome eye cather, its just not for me, thanks for all of the input from all of you, and i will start another project shortly, need to entertain my idle hands somehow.

j9fd3s 03-12-2005 05:56 PM

the millen 1st gen used 83-85 626 front struts (they bolt in to the strut tops), axles, an alfa diff (90-93 miata is a better choice), and a hewland transfer case. the rear was stock based. engine was offset to the side and rearwards.

the one he mentioned is apparently running high 8's though... 310 or even 350hp won't even come close to touching that.

GreyGT-C 03-13-2005 12:57 AM

AWD cars handle like **** on dry pavement..(not computer assisted factory sponsored cars)... just watch an audi or subaru at a track event. Understeer anyone?

Ry89FC3S 03-13-2005 03:45 PM
