hmmm... these are all dual exhausts, are there any single exhuasts (that can have good gains)?



All of the exhausts i've seen are dual exhausts.



Call me weird, but I dont really like duals.

Personally I prefer duals to singles any day. But there are single systems. I think, correct me if I'm wrong, the A’pexy N1 is a single setup. They've got it over at rx7.com ... Click Me



89 Rag when you say other do you mean the "Complete "Single" Exhaust System"?

here is the borla, which i heard is a real nice system. it's not too pricey either. i have the racing beat complete system for my TII, and i love it. somewhat quiet, but still opens up WOT. if i didn't get it, i'd get the borla, which a number of RX-8 owners have been raving about.

A case o' beer sounds like a good deal ... how about 10??? Although, kingston is still a tad far. When it comes to Rx7s living in Montreal sucks lol.



Now that all the ricers have brought out all those "beautiful" loud *** civics ... I think I've decided to go with the Complete Dual Setup and hopefully shatter their damn windshields when I drive right by them lmao.



Although, coasting home in neutral at night doesn't sound very appealing. So, from what I've understood the "Complete "Single" Exhaust System" has a tamer exhaust note.

Here's how Mazdatrix describes the "Dual" and "Single" setups...



Dual:



System design is dual pipe all the way from the engine to the rear bumper, uncollected. Headers are dual outlet with modifications done for 6-port actuation and oxygen sensor. Twin pre-silencers and both mufflers are included, as are all necessary connecting pipes, gaskets, hardware, and instructions.


Single:

These we call "single" because they utilize a single pre-silencer in the center of the vehicle, then split into the two mufflers. These two systems include: header with single outlet, single pre-silencer, "Y" pipe, and both mufflers, as well as needed gaskets and hardware. We offer it with either HKS mufflers, or those made by Racing Beat.


So from what I understand the "Dual" actually has two separate exhaust pipes that go all the way to the mufflers, and the "single" joins to one then a pre-silencer then a "Y" pipe then mufflers. Is that correct or am I just going crazy? I've been reading so much I've confused myself lmao .

This is a two into one. The individual exhaust ports flow into separate header tubes, which are then collected into a single tube. Typically the single tube feeds a main cat or a presilencer, followed by the y-pipe and individual mufflers.



This is a two into two. The individual exhaust ports flow into separate header tubes, which are never come together. They go into separate presilencers (we hope) and separate mufflers.



Either way you’ll need to plumb in an O2 sensor bung somewhere.

I think I've made up my mind ...



I want to go with this setup from Racing Beat:



- 1986-92 RX-7 (Non-turbo) Streetable Header/Collector

- Power Pulse Presilencer 1986-88 RX-7 Manual - Non-turbo

- 1986-92 Non-turbo Street Exhaust System



That is what I want but I don't know if going with:



- Catalytic Converter Replacement Pipe with Presilencer

- 1986-92 Non-turbo Street Exhaust System



Would be a little "Tamer" ...
