Lightbulb

Both of my tail lights are out. I've replaced the bulbs and checked the fuses; can't find any problem. Today, my "Stop" warning light went on... but as far as I can tell my brake lights are working; it's just the tail lights out. Anything I can do before I end up taking it to a mechanic? I don't need a ticket for something like this. ???

It's a 1986 GXL.

It could have something to do with the headlight switch. Try checking it out.

All I have is the owner's manual; no Chilton's, or anything. I have very little knowledge of electrical systems. Anything specific I should be checking out? :dontgetit:

Try checkinh out http://www.fc3s.org and http://www.iluvmyrx7.com for online factory manuals. Sometimes the switch can go bad. Many times the harness goes bad as well.

Same thing happened to me. It was a short in the headlight switch like 13B said. Take the switch out and see if there are burn marks on the harness going into it. I think there are websites that offer a repair service www.fc3s.org is one. Good luck.

Mine had the same problem a little over 3 years ago. I just fixed a bad connector in my harness, and my switch has been fine. The only problem is that I have to fix it again every once in a while.
