I was talking with a friend about this tonight we might get a mandrel bender.

You do realize that those are very, very expensive right? Yout have to buy separte dies for each pipe diameter, wall thickness and bend radi.... etc

Really the GReddy kit isn't *that* expensive. A good core assembly will run $300-$400 IMO and then the throttle body inlet is ~$100. So that leaves you with with $300-$400 for the tubing, whic hwill run our really quick once you start actualy buyign the tubing and welding etc.

That said, if you are into fabrication an IC is a great way to show your skills. I'll be selling my GReddy IC kit shorly infavor of my newer, better, custom setup.

Plus the dies are only good for so many bends. Your friend probably has a generic "crush" bender which is NOT a Mandrel bender by any means

If you're talking about the one that belongs to my friend's dad at the garage ...

I just spoke to him and he told me it's a CNC Machine ... Still dunno what that means but whatever LOL https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/happy.png

you can buy u-bends of piping, instead of bending your own. you'd have to weldl them together, though.

I would watch out for some of the cheap ebay intercooler cores and intercoolers. A good friend of mine owns a shop and I hang out there more than I should. I have seen a few turbo Hondas go across the dyno with the cheap intercooler and loose 30 whp on the 2nd pull. Needless to say they end up buying better intercooler after the day is out.

I personally I have spearco intercooler (which I gave a arm and leg for) and I like it. Precision turbo www.precisionte.com has some really nice intercoolers for a good price. I have personally seen them on cars that make great power and don't heat heat soak after the first pull on the dyno.

that's the answer to your prayers right there.

You can go to www.burnsstainless.com Get some t-6061 aluminum 2 1/2" piping. 3 u-bends, and 1 3 or 4 foot section of pipe. Any skilled mechanic can mate this combo up, cut and weld them and whala. Lookes every bit as good as the pre-mandrel bent stuff.

Be prepared to spend about 30 bucks for each u bend tho. 6061 is expensive ****.

Yes I understand that they are pretty expensive.

No it isn't a crush type I have seen the final product and it is a smooth bend all the way through.

The guy who has the bender wasn't making money cause he didn't have the time to devote fully to the bending. Like I said we were just talking about.
