I have a friend that si going out of the country for a year or so and I need to know what can be done to the engine if any so it can be stored that long? Will the ATF treatment work for this? I dont know so I am hopeing someone here will.

Its a RX-7? I would take the plugs out, sqiurt some Marvel Mystery Oil in them, disconnect the battery or hook it up to a Battery Tender ( thats the brand of it ), so the battery always has a full charge, although if the car doesnt have to be moved- just take the battery out compleatly, then put the car up on blocks so the tires dont get flat spots or dried out, unless they are crappy and he doesnt care. Take some WD-40 and squirt that **** everywhere he can get it- exaust, engine, undercarriage, rims, rubber seals on the doors, etc...
