Ok, this is really starting to **** me off. I have done everything needed to get the car fully rebuild, yet the starter just wont work. I checked every connection, I have had the starter tested, I have bypassed the ignition just to get the starter to crank, and still the same click click click. When I had it tested, the people at napa told me that since the solenoid was on the starter, and was tested when they tested the starter that it should be fine, yet I have a feeling that with the car just clicking that it is probably the solenoid, I am just not sure. Please anyone that may have any idea help me out here. I have come so far, I dont want this to destroy it all.

 

Is the battery fully charged?

 

Check your connections.

Turn on the headlights and see if they go out when you hit the starter. They should dim somewhat but shouldn't go out altogether - if they do you have a bad connection somewhere (battery terminal, etc)

 

yeah the battery is fully charged, and the headlights did dim when I started it

 

so it started or they dimmed when you tried to start it?? its probably the starter or solenoid. thats what it sounds like. sometimes when you take them out and test them they seem to work but they wont when you put em back in. try replacing the solenoid, then have the starter rebuilt if you need to. oh you can also try to cross the 2 main posts on the solenoid and that might work. make sure the key is turned to on and that the tranny is not in gear. if that doesnt work its the starter. if it does work its the wiring. make sure you dont electricute yourself, use a screw driver or something, but be positive the key is on on bc if its not and the starter isnt bad already it will burn out quickly from you trying to start it over and over. also if it starts this way the starter will stay engaged so you will have to disconn the small wire on the solenoid to get it to stop trying to start. does that make sense?? good luck?

 

Mine began to not start, it would *click click* then eventually start. Untill it stranded me in a parking lot. I borrowed a hammer from some guy at Super Lube, tapped the starter a few times, and it started right up. I thought the starter was bad, so I bought a reman from mazda. So far my starter has been doing great, since I tapped it with the hammer, and I have a brand new starter just sitting around.
