Ok... before the problem is discussed, I have a new 3rd gen rewired alternator, new battery, new starter, FD fuel pump just installed, starter relay mod (diverts more power to the starter for faster cranking), and I think that is it.

The car is cranking but not starting ...but in a way I have never experienced before. It is cranking maybe 5 times as fast, and on every downbeat of the crank the car clicks and lights everywhere flicker. So to me, the car is seriously spazzing so I don't try to start it too much cause it's frightening.

What do yall think? ...that's it the best I can explain it without actually being there.

you sure your relay mod isnt diverting ALL the power to the starter? remember it needs something for fuel and spark

That's a lot of rewiring of things, double check ALL the connections..it sounds like it's grounded out on something...is the fuel pump coming on when you turn the key to accessory? Check your fuses...one may have blown...

- I don't know what cranking with no compression sounds like, but the motor seemed healthy before hand. If I try and clutch start it and it drives fine, will that rule out no compressions?

- Well, these rewiring "mods" were all done over the summer and this new problem is just now acting up, so it isn't what you guys are thinking maybe - that I misconnected a wire or something.

- I do however think something is grounding out, but I wanted to get an idea of what to check because I don't have that much time in a day.

Thank you so far guys!

I had this happen recently due to flooding, it just sounds like the starter motor is spinning freely and continuously, with no "chugchugchugchugchug" sound.

once in a while you can get a no start where it cranks really fast, like as if you had no plugs in.

disable fuel, crank till it sounds normal then enable the pump again, allow the starter time to cool and you may want to hook up a battery charger when you do it

Sounds just like the unflooding procedure
