If so, then how can we get to it? Take off the rubber piece at the bottom?

i think it must be different on my 89 vert. i had my starter rebuilt and did the work myself. mine had bolts on the side of it. i dont remeber where they went though. i know one went through the housing and the block or somethign but i dont remeber where else

Alright, thanks. Yeah, the 86-88 picture in my haynes manual showed a bolt going in, but no nut. We finally called the dealership, and they said there's no nut, so I'm just going to trust them. Even though it's the same guys who told me a fuel pressure regulator and pulsation damper were the same thing, and sold me the wrong piece....bastards...

there is no nut on the bottom bolt. i guarantee it.
