Space Or No Space

I want to put one in the cowl area of the windshield.
I dont see whats wrong with the stock location, look at it, it draw cool air
from the front of the car, there is a gasket on the hood to seal it off from the
engine compartment, Mazda spent alot of money to put it there, a $20 filter isnt going to be better, try a new air filter first and see if you notice improvement
The stock air filter draws air from the same place as the radiator, next thing you know people will be mounting thier radiators in front of the bumper thinking they can make a better mouse trap.

clean engine bay rob... you should strip that **** off the hood. Doesnt it reduce cooling to the radiator to not have those air deflector plastic panels in there? I was going to take mine out for more air to the filter but not if its not worth it.

Second engine bay is my vert.
You mean the insulation? I like it there, it serves a purpose- to try to keep heat off the black hood, at least I like to think so, lol
And the rubber things- without them there is too much of a gap, or are we talking about something else?
I tend to go for the stock look, it may not be such a valuable car, but its getting rare to see any at all, let alone the way it left the factory, clean and
original never goes out of style.

This is exactly what I did, got rid of the washer BS, and have custom piping from the MAF
down into the fenderwell. Works awesome.
