i was wanting to see about how much its going to cost me in parts alone to rebuild a s5tii engine? and how much its going to cost me to take it to a rotary shop and have them do it? or should i get a used one out of a wrecked car? also i know some one who works on piston engines, and he says he could rebuild the rotary with no problems...should i let him do it?or is it going to bite me in the *** if i do?

the long answer is that it depends.
the cost of the rebuild depends on what parts it needs, and how long you want the rebuild to last.
rotor housings are $450-500each new, that varies the cost right there by a bunch.

Basic rebuild kits are around $1000, and they have all new parts and full gasket/seal kit assuming your oil pump, all irons, housings, rotors, and eccentric shaft are within spec (shortblock form only, and re-using said parts).
of course if anything is out of spec you will need to bring it up to spec or replace it, which can rack up a bill..
and by bring up to spec I mean, your irons might be alright but they need to be resurfaced, so you have to take it somewhere to be done, etc, etc.

alright, i looked in to taking it to a rotary place arround here, and they want $3800 to do the job. that sceams like a lot, so i looked at http://www.rotaryresurrection.com/ and for arround $2000 i can send it longblock to him get a street port, and rebuilt, and have it back, all i have to do is take the engine out shipp it and reinstall it. but on a 1-10 how hard is it to take an engine out and put it back in?

is $3800 them doing all the work?
if 1 is an oil change, and 10 is a single turbo 3 rotor, then an engine sawp is 3-4

taking the motor out is as simple as disconnecting all hoses/lines/wires/ unbolt trans and starter from engine, and unbolt engine mounts... ive had mine out 3 or 4 times already in the past few months... find a freind whos done it before or has some knowledge about it and youll be fine, but im sure before you give it to them to rebuild youll have to take all the manifolds and everything off... and streetport is defanatly worth it too...

well actually if i send it to http://www.rotaryresurrection.com/, i can send it long block, thats with everything still on the engine, and he charges 150 if u send it like that. witch would be better for me.

With sending it to Rotary Resurrection, dont forget to factor in the cost of shipping. And shipping prices have skyrocketed over the last year.
Another point: That price on the website is assuming all your hard internals are still usable, the price will be affected by bad housings irons etc.
And please: IF BUDGET IS AN ISSUE; do not forget to factor in the hidden rebuild costs:
1. New Radiator hoses and clamps
2. New Heater Supply and Return Hoses
3. Injector Cleaning
4. Oil Cooler Cleaning/Flushing
5. Radiator Cleaning/Flush
6. Motor Mounts
7. Pilot Bearing/Clutch
8. Slave Cylinder and Supply Line
9. Fluids
10. Vacuum Hoses
11. NEW Water Pump
12. OMP Lines
