so the idle is higher now so it doesnt stall...but once it seems that she is a little warm, it doesnt want to start at all. we were able to start it by playing around with top egi comp fuse (kinda disconnecting/connecting) and giving a little gas and cranking the **** out her the entire time. once she turns over she kinda purs like a kitten. i can imagine that the fuel filter is in awful shape and couldnt change today b/c of jack complications (didnt have access to one ). the other symptoms seem very fuel filter related....to me the moron anyway...sluggish acceleration...esp...when going into first....a supposed rx7 guru friend of my friend said that it sounded like water seals to him...i dont think we told him about ffilter though...he said that bc i had the exhaust leak near the turbo, the heat couldve damaged the seals.....it just seems to me that the car runs so well aside from this...i had a few droplets of water coming from tailpipes, which my mechanic said is an excellent sign. i blow no smoke...just an occasional backfire. HELP US PLEASE!

still havent tried adjusting the TPS slightly have you?

Slightly being the key word and to remember where the adjustment is now.

With the car hot shut adjust the screw alittle, turn it about 1/4 turn, shut the car off, try starting it and see if it gets any better. If it gets worse turn it the other way, if it gets a bit better let the car run then turn it another 1/4 turn, repeat until it seems good. Have you checked the timing?

The car would blow a lot of smoke if the water seals are bad.

when we took off intercooler and i said to adjust tps it seemed as though it was just a box...not something that can be "adjusted"...what is my problem? as for timing, we played around w/ it but not with a light ....so water seals are out...thank god! if it was timing, wouldnt run like **** in general....cuz she really isnt thanks guys...keep it comin

how?..was i looking at the right thing?...i think its also kinda odd that the throttle cable is how it is....i was able to adjust idle by tugging on cable....i'm not suprised that my idle fluctuates...

Don't tighten the throttle cable to adjust your idle. That is probably why your car is flooding (I made that mistake a while ago ). There is a idle adjustment screw on the BAC valve that is on the upper intake manifold about 4" above the ACV, it has a coolant hose running through it (kind of) and a plug with a few wires going to it. As for the TPS adjustment screw, it is on the front side of the throttle body, as part of the linkage. It could easily be mistaken for an idle adjustment screw. You'll probably have to pull the IC off to see where it is. Once you know where it is, you can just use a long screwdriver to get to it without pulling the IC off. You can make or buy a checker light for the TPS, it'll come in handy. Someone here might have a link on how to make the light, I don't. Hope this helps.

I stopped by his house and took a look at his car, and did some trouble shooting. There is a crack in his turbo inlet pipe and he is running no air filter . There appears to be a ripped rag around his AFM , the poor guy could have a rag in his motor. I also suspect the fuel filter is badly clogged and needs to be changed.

The TPS is within spec, I checked that using the resistance method that FC3S-Pro.com suggests to do, I dont have that cute little check light and the car would not start.

I need to know where else to look for vacuum leaks, and how to diagnose leaky injectors if that is the case. After only about 3-5 seconds of cranking, the motor smelled very strongly of fuel.

I also need to know about HKS EVC's, and what that could be doing to **** this poor guys car up

the rag wrapped around the AFM is a bad idea, the car wont run

unless thats sealed off. I had a crack in the one on my GXL and it

was wrapped in duct tape and the car would not run, that thing has to be

tight and sealed.
