Buy a real exhaust.

Or quit wasting your time trying to make an n/a fast, because you will spend more money and still have a slower car than a TII.

something like that and then either a good quality cat back and a midpipe, or a full custom exhaust.

not TOO true , i have an 86 with a BAD *** street port , RPS 12LBS flywheel , RPS race clutch , weber 48IDA , racing beat headers and custom exhaust . . . and my car faster than a stock TURBO II . . . but ya , a turbo is usually gunna be faster than an N/A . . . if your willing to spend the money , you can make an N/A car move . . .it will cost more money though . . .

So you spent how many thousands of dollars to have a car thats still slower than a TII with a couple hundred dollars worth of mods, cant pass emisions(while the TII could), and undoubtedly doesnt run as well as the TII would, etc. I could go on for a long time.

Trust me, this is the voice of experience. I could pull on my friends modded S2000 in my GTU. But for everything I had into the car, the build engine, the standalone, 8 lb flywheel, TII driveline, etc, it wasnt worth it. If I had put that money into a TII, i would have had an 11 second car.

My friend has a TII that ran a 13.4@106 mph 1/4 with just intake and exhaust and a little fuel. I could duplicate the mods he had for around $600.

well , my plan is to build up my car all motor first , and later on add a turbo . . . but ya , i know its a no brainer that i could have had an 11 sec if i had gone turbo . . . but i want to build up little by little . . . so ya . . . and as far as emissions , i couldnt care less . . . and what do u mean by " doesnt run as well as the TURBO II " ? . . .

Until you scrap the stock ecu and get a standalone, every mod you do is going to make the drivability get a little worse. What happens is that even though the afm can compensate for the extra airflow, the engine starts to get close to the limits of the fuel and ignition mapping, and the maps are not accurate there. Not to mention the ecu itself has been obsolete for over 10 years. The stock ecu can only accurately run the engine at close to the stock hp level.

I think youre wasting your time, I know I was with my GTU.
