Sleeve Inserts must work!
I'm working on a renesis motor right now while by other buddy (one320fb) is working on some tuneup/mod for his s5 fc and I came across something I thought I'd show and discuss.
One320fb got the PR inserts for his sleeves, and I know when Rob first started selling them, the NA guys were skeptical about performance as well as safety. PR mentions that even Mazda noticed there could be gains made by reshaping the entry angle of the 5th and 6th ports, and here is proof!
Sure enough when I pulled the sleeves from the Renesis engine, they are completely smooth and angled inward, similar to what PR's inserts accomplish. I'm anxious to see what gains the inserts will make on one320fb's s5 NA, but I have to believe they should help SOME!
I think adding the inserts, port match, polish and "deburring" the runners should make for at least SOME gains even on a stock ported engine. I'm going to throw an estimate out there and say probably 4-7whp at the over 5K RPM mark...
Here's a pic of the renesis sleeve. I'll have to get a pic from one320fb of the stock NA sleeves and do a side by side.
I know this may be old news to some of the gurus, but if there are noobs reading - it may be worth the investment.

I was happy with my PR inserts. It pulled more smoothly to redline. No I didn't dyno it, but you know it's gotta help. I installed mine by scratching up the mating surfaces and using red loctite, and when I removed them many miles later, they were fine. I just sold my sleeves to someone else (shpaintball).
Yep - the renesis uses a similar concept on the secondary ports like the early FC NA engines did. The design of them is far superior (and larger, so it seems) than the FC engines. That's why I bring up the insert from PR, the inserts accomplish a similar design as the renesis sleeves, except that the renesis sleeves are back cut and WAY more efficient... but still, I've got to hope that one320fb can tell a difference with those!
I think the PR sleeves should be a good compliment to building a fun NA car with exhaust, and intake - they should make a little more HP.. obviously all mods rely on another, so it should help add to the HP equation!
