Sitting motor
I am getting an engine that has been sitting for some time. Everyone tells me to lube generously before initial start up. But i don't know how to get oil into the engine so what do ya'll suggest.
putting the engine on a stand, opening the filler cap and pouring oil in. close the filler cap back and then rotate the engine 360degree's a few times making sure to stop when it is upside down, and on either side a few times. might work? who knows I just figured instead of being an *** and saying "open the filler cap, apply oil, reclose filler cap" I would at least tell you what I might try. Oh and be sure to close off the other oil inlets/exits all around the motor. you dont want precious oil running all over the place.
yeah, good luck with that. the s5 motor I had did not even turn with a torque wrench, and I put in about 1/4 a bottle of oil. I threw the motor away because nobody wanted to come and get it for FREE!

now that's bad
yeah, no kidding. i did'nt care though, i got the motor for free. but the bad part was it was a remaned motor with only 20k on it.
and I could'nt bring it with me, I had NO room for it. i could've at least tinkered with it, and torn it apart if I could'nt get it to turn over. so it got junked at the local yard, they even picked up the rest of the 89 that I had. i only kept the steering wheel from it just as a memento. yeah, a memento for a parts car, so what?
