I need some help, i wanna go single on my exhaust, do u guys think i should do this or what. I am goin wit tha Racing Beat headers and presilencer, wit 2.5 all tha way back to a racing medallion muffler. Do yall think i am going to gain any horses by going single or am I jus wasting my time? I am doing all this to an 87 gxl n/a turbo. Also what else can i do to my car to make it burn ***!?

I also have a 87 N/A. i went with an APEXi N1 single and a Bonez race pipe, i gained about 5 hp just with the exhaust and another 3 or 4 with the race pipe. I also have the bonez cold air intake that I got from Rotary Performance in TX. i am not sure if there is more of a gain with the dual set up or not.

Typically, your best performance on the NA 2nd gens will be w/ dual exhaust, not single. You have two exhaust ports, thus have a dual input/output header that goes straight back to the mufflers will gain you about 20%(30HP) or so...of course w/out the backpressure you'll want to rig your 5th and 6th ports open somehow. Single exit exhaust is good for turbo cars that only have one exit from the motor(the turbo). Also, on a personal level...single exit looks funny on a car that has the moldings for two....

Oh, and for other mods on your NA.... get a nice intake setup like a cone filter w/ ram air or cold air box, have the TB ported, port and polish the upper and lower intake manifolds...thats good enough for intake...that'll gain you about 15-25HP(depending on how exactly you do it all). Then just get dual output headers and run 'em all the way back, then put some T2 540cc secondary injectors in and control them w/ the SAFC....your looking at roughly 55HP after doing the intake, exhaust, fuel stuff before going into motor work. This will put the 146 HP 87 NA up to about 190 or so...its a lot of work to tune all that correctly though and getting it to work just how you want...before my old NA motor blew I was putting out 198HP with those mods...not bad...

nice 198... get the FD intake, then port it, u won't need bigger injectors though thats an overkill.

I have a Racing Beat Header to a PreSilencer to a DynaMax Turbo muffler (all 2-1/2" as recommended by Pineapple Racing). It was way too loud. It was like I was starting a race car everytime.

I added a 2nd muffler last week (Still 2-1/2" all the way to the rear) It's still a little on the loud side (louder than a stock RX7) but it sounds good, and is streetable.
