Hey guys, kind of new to the FC scene and the reason why I made this thread was so that I could get a little help. As in a walkthrough on how to fix my car. I know you've all heard it, sorry, but as I was reading other threads on this same problem I couldn't actually find ways to really "do it yourself". So a little guidance would help alot.

Onto the real deal. I have a bone stock s5 TII with a little more problems than I think, but I'll start when I started noticing some problems. Just recently I changed my oil to a synthetic blend (Royal Purple). After the oil change I went ahead and drove it around, but the car felt muffled. Like I lost responsiveness in throttle and boost just didn't kick in. Now about a week later this problem would be an on and off thing. A week after that all I had to do was hold my car at about 6k rpms for a minute or two and that problem would go away. A couple days ago I did my 6k rpms thingy and as soon as I let go the car suddenly idled horribly and eventually died. I could start it again but I had to keep the rpms up or else the crazy idle would kill it. Now I got it home did some research, read that it could be a huge vacuum leak around my intake area. Went out tried to start the car, but it would start and die. Even with my foot on the pedal the first couple attempts but maybe the 3rd or 4th I could rev it and it would die again. So any help on this would be great.

I also have a coolant leak. The upper radiator hose connection next to the alternator seemed to have a crappy gasket and is rotted up inside where the hose connects. Anyone know where I can get a new one? Maybe aluminum cause this one feels like its made of cardboard. And also is there anything else I need besides a gasket when I reinstall that?

Thank you guys for reading up on this even though its another one of those "omg not one of these again" threads.

yowza yowza, that sucks man. for the vac leak you can do the starter fluid trick (spray the engine anywhere you think a leak might exhist, if it revs when you spray there then theres the leak), but I'm thinking you might also want to do a compression check. www.rotaryresurrection.com has a good writeup on that if you havnt done one of those on a rotary engine before.

good luck man, I know it sucks! (see my thread somewhere below)

Alright I'll go ahead and try that today. See if I can find anything.

So I went ahead and tried to start the car today. The car started and died on the first attempt, but on my second attempt I started the car and held it at 3k for a little bit and when I let go, thinking the car was going to die again. Instead it flipped on me and held at 2k rpms, but after it properly warmed up the usual rough idle and dies when warmed up happened. I noticed that my alternator was hissing, don't know if that adds on to the problem.
