S4 Vs S5

just make sure to bolt up the hood before you put away the tools, somethings may still need adjusting

wow. not bad. and gold is a rare color. i constantly see red,black, and blue. keep the gold.

No kidding.



The hood lines up great with the bumper and the fenders, but the headlights are being a pain. It looks like I need to move the upper rad support forward another inch or so. I was thinking about making a beam to go across the front of the strut towers and using a bottle jack to push the rad support forward. Do you think the strut towers are strong enough to push on? Aldo, is there a difference between the S4 and S5 headlight assemblies? I cant see any big differences, but I'd like to be sure.

Instead of moving the rad support forward, wouldn't it be easier to make new mounting points for the headlight on the support? For the upper mounting points (horizontal), just drill a hole and weld in a nut, for the lower ones (vertical) just use some spacers.

strut towers should be good enough to push on, might be better to pull on something outside the car though?



the headlight framii are the same

Well damn. I discovered the drivers side headlight motor is fuct and the S5 motor I have doesnt have the extra relay wired to it. If I splice the S4 relay and connecter on to the S5 motor, will that work?



Pushing on the strut towers worked great. The headlight frames and the radiator all fit pretty well. I am now in the process of what I hope will be final reassembly.

I got everything back together and took her out for a spin. Still runs strong. I have a lot of fitment issues I need to work out but it works and the alignment is still pretty close. The hood sits too high and the headlights are too low when they close so Ill have to do a bit more bending. Once thats all lined up it will be time to start saving for a paint job.



N/M about the headlight motor question. I guess the S5 motor doesnt need that extra relay. I plugged it straight in and it worked fine.
