Thumbs down

I need to know if a shifter from an S4 to an S5 is interchangeable. I am looking into buying a C's short shifter and the guy who has it bought it for an 86 S4 and I want to know if it will drop into an S5.

Well I got the shifter. Next question is do I need to add any grease in the hole where the bottom of the shifter goes? If so, what kind of grease is it?

Oh and I screwed my S5 **** on just fine.

If by "the hole where the bottom of the shifter goes", you mean the shift tower, then no. Don't add grease. Add Gear oil (75w-90 or 80w-90). Add it until it covers half of the shift rod in the tower, maybe a touch more.

Jose, take a look at the Miata shifters and some of the writeups on this and other forums. I got one off ebay for about $55 and slapped it in, it works great. Throws are so much shorter and more crisp.
