ok i am not quite sure what i did to my 7 but i have a couple of theories..

one i blew my motor....just becauseafter the incedent happend the rpms skyrocketed and it seemed to be only running on one rotor..

or my plugs just stoped working on half of my motor then the other side just fucked after that... because it is not sparking and yet when i unpluged the sparks and turned the motor over i hear the woosh woosh woosh and its pretty consistant.... the people who used to be able to help me on this **** moved and now im skrewed...

oh and hey im new i have a s5 with apexi N1s and thats about it..

i know someone who has a couple s4 motors sitting around and i have heard that they fit and that they dont fit... someone said that they slide right in as another said you had to change stuff around.. anyone know anything abouyt this?

Ah, have fun with this one.

The engines are the same, its the components and electrical system that are the mojor differences (besides some internals of the engines)

Easiest way that I can think of doing this is to convert the S4 engine in to a S5 engine. Since you have a "bad" S5, you can use the parts from it and swap it to the S4. Then all you would have to do is drop in the S4 block with all S5 components.

Basically, pull everything off of the S4 engine (take it down to the bare block) and swap everything from the S5 engine on to the S4. Fuel injectors, OMP, intake manifolds (you may be able to get away with just doing the throttle body)

If you dont do it this way, you have to get a S4 ECU and harness and figure out what wires from the ECU go to dash and ignition harnesses. Thats what I had to do and it was a pian in the ***. I got as far as it being able to start, but it would shut down after about 10 seconds and I could never figure it out.

Oh yeah, is your S5 a NA or Turbo?

There may be some other electrical componets you may need to worry about, like emmissions. But if you dont care about those, you can ditch them.

'tis true.

Good luck with it. If you ever have any questions about, feel free to PM me. My swap is basically the same, except that mine was a S5 NA to a S4 T2.

If you think you can do a rebuild, then do it. Its really not hard, get an atkins kit or something and follow the directions. If you want to do the swap, one thing you will have to do is take all the stuff off of your stock s5 omp and ground the thing to the firewall or somewhere like that, then you can either just run premix or use the manual s4 omp. I am pretty sure you cant use an s5 omp on an s4 block though. And you cant just throw out the s5 omp because if the computer doesnt think its there then it wont let you go over 3500rpms. You will loose some power if you step down to the s4 motor because of lower compression, heavier rotors, but it wont be quite as bad if you use the s5 intake and fuel management. Maybe 5-10hp

Thats true. I forgot about that. The front covers are different between S4 and S5. When I was going to convert the engine, I was just going to swap the front covers.

A rebuild wont cost that much, but its not cheap. With the seals and gaskets, it will probally be around $700 depending on who you buy it from. And that is also if your housings are in good shape.

If you convert the engine, you would need a gasket set, but no seals, so it would cost maybe $100.
