Well, it's about time I got around to finishing off the fender wells on this project!

I started by degreasing and pressure washing what little grime was on there, forced the surface dry with heat and some air, wire wheel and sandpaper prepped, and masked the goodies in the well that don't need paint, etc.

Next was a quick solvent wipe down, then a healthy application of dtr epoxy via a conventional set-up, good stuff too, lays out nice and even and is available to top coat in 45 minutes.

The final lick was some truck bedliner spray simply shot from bomb cans, which when sprayed at about two feet away from the surface leaves a nice even, orange peel-like texture. I'll snap a few more shots later, here's one for now of the finished product...

interesting masking as well, is that some fancy industrial stuff or is it aluminum foil?

lol, good 'ol aluminum foil, best masking ever!

It would take a crapload of paper, tape and time to replicate the same mask job.

It doesnt flake either when you unmask, bigger pices can be reused.

I think it's worthwhile, and after I mildly restored the car, I won't even drive it in the rain. It just offers some protection; both from the old grime and ever growing rust that, for some cars, could have started forming prior to the showroom, and from road debris. It makes the wells easy to maintain, they can be cleaned up and detailed nicely.

by the way it looks good (along with the rest of the car)
