Quickor was an aftermarket tuner that did some work on the first gen. They added a handling package to it - stiffer springs, Bilstein shocks, thicker roll bars, LSD, and polyurethane bushings. Wider wheels and tires were also added. One magazine's tester improved the stock slalom speed from 52.9 mph to 57.8 mph with all the additions.

I got that from "RX-7 Mazda's Rotary Engine Sportscar" by Brian Long. My library also includes:

The "FC" and "FD" books by Jack Yamaguchi

Sports Car Color Histroy - Mazda RX-7

Mazda RX-7 Gold Portfolio 1978-1991

and the Mazda RX-7 Performance Handbook

The Yamaguchi books are by far the best. The Gold Portfolio is kind of like the R&T book pictured above. It includes all kinds of magazine articles about the RX-7. Sports Car Color HJistory is pretty good and probably the easiest to find. I usually see it in Barnes and Noble when I peruse that section.

The Performance Handbook was a disappointment. At least I can say I have it.

Also, none of these are really performance books with the exception of the Performance Handbook. They are great reading though.

Dude

If rotary performance is what your interested in, you have to, I repeat have to get the Racing-Beat cataloge for your car. "The bible of rotary performance" and a must read for any rotary enthusiast. These guy's have been around since the rotary engine came to America and they know there ****, trust me. Their phone number is: (714)779-8677 They make a volume for each generation(RX-7), so you'll have to tell them what year your interested in.
