Im removing my tranny this weekend, Ill be putting in a new centerforce dual friction clutch. I was pretty scared about the weight of the tranny, but I feel much better now knowing its pretty light. Let me know how it goes putting your clutch in. Its my first as well. Hopefully 1Revvin7 and BigTurbo74 will be helping me, but if not Ill be doing it myself.

I haven't heard much good about CF clutches on RX-7s, but if you already have it, I guess it's too late.

yea the centerforce pp in my car is fine, ill go take a pic of the clutch now actually.

well went looking for it, parents probably threw it away but basically 3/4 of the lining just fell off and got wedged between flywheel and pp forcing my clutch to stay engaged. it still had plenty of life on it too, like i said it was probably about 3,000 miles old.

i threw an ACT S/S clutch disk and new throwout bearing on and reused the centerforce pp. it seems to be working very well after about 1,000 miles.

you put 1000 miles on the car already?

TII777 10-07-2003 01:10 AM

well i got it for 200 bucks and i needed a new clutch so it was convenient. Did you beat on it right after you put it in? I was told you should baby it for the first 1k same as if you got a new motor. Theres a guy with a 700hp FD who swears to these clutches still, another guy I know had his in and was fine up to just under 500, but then started to slip on him.

go it with 139800 on september 16th, clutch lasted till about 139875 (installed at like 136,000 by evil)

today October 7th it reads 140953

mileage will die down now that its winter, i was trying to get as much driving in as possible before it got too cold, plus i wanted to learn how the car feels.

Generally i'm a big mileage guy. in 2 years of having my license i've driven over ~73,000 miles (a little more or less then 40,000 in my first year with my wrangler, and about 32,000 in 14 months with my durango)

wow, that is a lot of miles! I put about 3-4k miles on a year, thats about it, and I drive all the time, but I do store my TII in the winter so yeah that definately helps.
