So the guy who previously owned the rx7 which is now mine had disconnected the O2 sensor when I discovered this a few days ago I was talking to him about it and he said that it helps it from running too rich and you get more power. I thought the O2 sensor helped keep the A/F ratio in check and wouldn't removing it or disconnecting the O2 sensor cause the computer to go into some sort of limp mode for it or possibly make the A/F too rich. Any input would be helpful I'm trying to decide whether to reconnect it or not, but I want to make sure of the benefits or problems. Thanks in advance. Oh by the way its a 88 N/A.

I dont know what it does exactly but i disconnected mine a while back. It didnt really have any more noticible power, but after a while, while i was cruising on the interstate, my cel came on. I stopped, plugged the o2 back in and the cel went off.

Since its used to help with the A/F ratio I would think that I would be consuming more or less fuel depending on what the computer does when its not receiving any signal.
