Thumbs up

I have a 91 rx7 convertable, with just a stock 13b rotary engine (no mods). I thought about puting a couple performance parts into it (short ram air intake, Aluminum Fluidyne radiator about to be installed- good on the hot days, and exaust). Right now the only thing i am asking is recommendations for a performance exaust. This includes the headers and cat. coverter too. What brand? I'm come across many exausts on the internet, but from your guy's experience, what would be the best for a simple everyday rotary driver like myself that just wants that extra kick and growl (or purr)

The general consensus is to go with Racing Beat.

Racing Beat seems to be the best to go with. Whatever you do, NEVER buy Pacesetter exhaust or headers.

And header I would recommend is a SDJ Header. They are expensive, but just ask banzaitoyota how they perform.

I like Borla's exhaust system. I recently put it on my 87 TII and I love it. Also put on a 3" downpipe and replaced the cats with one 'high-flow' cat. Didn't bother with new headers because my car's only got 38k miles on it so the stock ones are still pretty good. The only difference from the Racing Beat I think is that Borla's uses 2 1/2" piping and the Racing Beat is 3". Borla's is also 'inter-cooled' - basically piping inside of piping on the muffler tips...mostly for looks I think, probably only cools the muffler tips a tad. It (Borla) is also pretty quiet, if you're not lookin for that obnoxious crotch rocket sound...also fairly cheap like $430 or somethin like that. Racing Beat is like $750. Another cheap alternative is Dynomax SuperTurbo, but the mufflers have S-shaped flow not straight through so its not as good performance wise. These are all split rear (dual) exhaust systems, which I prefer. If you want a single tip exhaust and don't care how much it runs you I'd probably go with A'pexxi or however you spell it. This exhaust is huge, but probably very loud as well. I did a lot of research on 2nd gen exhausts and am very pleased with the Borla system.

I have, Rb header with custom made 3 inch collector, 3 inch catless to the drivers side, polished satainless magnaflow 3 in 3 out, with the re style dolphin turndown. Made it all at the shop I work at, except for the header, and I have less than 300 dollars in a good setup. Its pretty loud dont get me wrong, but for the money I can go back and put another unpolished magnaflow in somewhere.

Cheapest way to go is custom.

Would you recommend a single 3 inch from front to back on a T2? I was thinking of straight pipe instead of a cat and running it on just the passenger side instead of crossing the driveshaft. I'd like to access the driveshaft without removing the exhaust. Any opinions or recommendations welcome. Sorry for stealing the thread but I thought since the topic was open...

Single 3 inch mandrel bends instead of crush bends, good high flowing muffler, and you will be good to go.

3" might be overkill (and expensive). Anyone else have input?

Racing Beat all the way. Even though they're expensive, they are way worth it. Good sound, good power, and full stainless finish. I have a full RB (minus mufflers) on the 86 GXL, and it's a great fitting product, and great quality.
