yea but what is exactly are the 5th and 6th ports there for and what is the plus side if there always open?????

The 5th & 6th ports are they to adjust airflow into the motor at higher RPMs to give you an extra "umhf" of power...they are also used to give you a little more low end power..due to the rotaries not having any really, lol. If they are always open, they will just allow more air in all the time, which in turns lessens the low end torque...but will also increase the airflow at higher RPMs. They are activated on '86 to '88 NA rx7s by exhaust backpressure, thus when you free up the exhaust or do large porting, there isn't enough backpressure to open them...thus killing power in the top end. Lol....getting all this? '89 and newer NA rx7s are not controlled by exhaust backpressure...so they don't have to worry about it. I hope all that made sense

they dont (play by the books) as rotaryman88 says, as much as hayes does do they because hayes they would only allow a stage 1 street port on my 88n/a would pineapple just ignore that stuff i guess

Hey dude, my friend spent about 2 years in Savannah for the Army. He has some pretty crazy stories about St. Patricks Day and some pictures too!

About the porting, I had a streetport done on my 88 n/a housings by Atkins Rotary. I haven't got the engine back together yet, but I think it should run real nice with the port. Here are some pics.
