Well, I am pretty set on getting a full road-race exhaust system from Racing Beat. After my previous post, [ https://www.nopistons.com/forums/ind...howtopic=53437 ] Racing Beat definitely seems to be the way to go. I do however have a few questions about the more technical aspects of the system, since I plan to install it myself.

First, here is a link to the system I am considering: http://www.racingbeat.com/FCExhaust/RR%20Exhaust.htm

Now, the installation of the mufflers, y-pipe, and presilencer should be a complete piece of cake. The header is the one part that I need some clarification on. The road-race header has a 6-port actuator pick-up tube coming off of it as well as a hole for the oxygen sensor. A picture of this part of the header can be found at the following link: http://www.racingbeat.com/images/16128a.jpg

The first thing I am wondering about is how my o2 sensor should detach from it's current setup and reattach into the new hole in the header? Is this a relitively easy procedure, and if so, is there anything in particular I should know for when I do this?

My second question is in regards to the 6-port actuator pick-up tube. Currently, I believe this tube runs up from the main cat and up into the engine somewhere near my 6-ports. I have not actually went under the car and looked at where it connects. I am however assuming that with the new system, I will have to use something other than the current pipe to connect my 6-ports to the new pick-up tube. To anyone who has this setup currently- what did you use? Did you fabricate something yourself, and if so, did you just use some sort of bendable (rubber?) hose?

And finally, is there anything else I should know that I didn't already ask about above? Any wierd problems you ran into during the install?

p.s. pictures of the above installed parts on your car would be a godsend :P

....im getting sooooo excited for this. wow

RB has the beauty of bolt-ons down pat, a new O2 sensor should come with the header and a wire/spade connector to plug in to the exisiting wire in your cars harness.

The connection for actuating the 6th ports is on the lower intake manifold, just above the location of the header.

The instructions the RB set comes with will guide you step by step, it really doesn't get any easier.

Now i am going to buy a RB catback today as soon as i get my check balance updated. I am wondering how it would work with my old exhaust system from the engine to the ypipe....since its all rusty and shitty. I would rather get the header, presilencer and catback...

Now is the road race setup better than the other setup that has the collected headers. I think the road race is uncollected...

The road race system isn't really necessary for stock engines, imo, and you have no chance of passing emissions testing with either of the systems where the catalytic converter is removed.

I took the dimensions of the presilencer to a fab shop and had them make me a cat that could bolt in and out like the presilencer does so when it comes time to renew my tags I take the presilencer out, pop the cat in, re-attach the tubing and hose to the lower intake manifold and cat. That way you can have the best of both worlds.

my header came only with the wire/spade connector, no o2 sensor, although i have the street header.

I think they will provide one, if you ask when you order the header.

although I may be wrong, it has been a while since I bought anything from RB.

The O2 sensor will come out the easiest by unplugging the wire first, then just remove your stock exhaust manifold with it still in. With the stock mani then on the ground, put one foot on it or something to hold it in place and take an O2 sensor socket and your ratchet or breaker bar. Thats the easiest. I use a little PB blaster too. You can get one of these sockets at an auto parts store.

As for the six port tube, don't worry about the stock one coming up from the cat. All you need is the little vacuum line that tees off of that. That little vacuum line goes into another small metal tube that wraps around the bottom of your lower intake manifold and feeds the port actuators the exhaust gas. You'll just hook up this vacuum line from the RB outlet right into this metal tube. The placement by RB for that is perfect, should provide plenty of backpressure. The kit also will provide you with a ac/cv cover plate like RB does with their headers.

Let us know how it is. I think thats the best true dual system available right now. I'm considering it too.

I have the true duals all the way to the Y-pipe, it was easy putting it on. I bought my own o2 sensor and mine header did not come with one. It was easy to get on, took less than an hour but taking stuff off was hard for me becuase of all the rust. Its loud, i warn you, i would rather it be quieter.

true duals are uncollecteed headers so that would be very loud

What do you have after the y pipe? That could be part of why its so loud... even though I've never heard a quiet rotary with a header.
