Yesterday I went on a good hard run in the area around that I live, just trying to map out the good places. I noticed that when I redline it in 2nd and shift into 3rd, I dont get gears grinding, but I feel- well its kinda hard to explain, but I feel resistance, like the gears want to grind, but they dont. Its kinda like when you push on the clutch hard enough not to grind em, but not hard enough to make it smooth. And 3rd gear is the only gear this happens in.



Yet while I'm on the road I have no problems with it. Does this mean that my 3rd gear synchro might be leaving me soon? I know that I'll probably have to change out my clutch by summer's end, could it be related to that? Thanks!

 

If it were the clutch it would do it in all gears. I think that it's the 3rd gear synchro which might be leaving you soon.

That's what happened to me once but in second.
