Pulsation Damper
#1
So, I pulled the fuel rails and am replacing the injectors on my T2. Naturally, I pull the cover off the pulsation damper and naturally, "the screw" is laying there in the cap. No leaks.
The question: Will I be damned to hell if I just put the screw back in? I know the correct answer is "Yes!" but I was curious to know if any other cheapskates out there have been tempted to re-use the damper in this situation.
Where is the absolute cheapest place to buy a new one?

I would just ask around to see if anyone has one. I got mine from mazdadrifter for $20 ...still works too. I wouldnt reuse it, you'd be better off buying a use one, rather then putting the old damaged one back in and risk fire damage.

Do I need to be wearing my Ray-Bans when I do this, or will I be cool even if I don't?

I just got rid of the whole thing. I used an extra piece from another set of rails. The piece that goes from you primarys to your secondaries. I stuck it in a pipe and slowly bent it somewhat straigt till it would fit the way I wanted.
I will for sure be getting an aftermarket FPR with a Pulsation Dampner so this is only temporary. All I know is the stock one is untrustworthy. You can get a new one but its spendy. Dont ever trust used fully.
Like 1Revvin said. Its not worht thaking a chance with this thing. It can cause some MAJOR damage

Well, I won't buy a used one. I figure my junk is as good as the next guy's.
The part serves a purpose, so I'm inclined to leave it there and not replace it with a simple banjo bolt fitting.
This is a race car, not a daily driver. If I smell fuel, I'll find out where it's coming from.
If the part I have isn't leaking, what's the harm in using it? The new ones don't come with any guarantee not to leak a year later.
And they cost like 130 bux. Granted that's a drop in a bucket that keeps getting bigger, but it's still 130 bux.
