Since I had an accident, I need a new hood. Mine was aluminum, so I'd like an aluminum replacement. I know a guy that could get me a steel one for cheap, but I think I found an Al hood in a junk yard that's in good shape. I have to go back and stick a magnet to it to be positive, but it feels pretty light. So is $100 way too much? How much do they usually go for?

He also has a fender that he says is $75. My parts guy doesn't have a fender for me. Is this reasonable, or would I be getting ripped off?

If the parts are in nice shape, I'd say both prices are very reasonable.

New aluminum hood retails for 900.00USD, I just bought a new one a week ago and they said there were only three new ones left in the States, 100.00 for an Alum hood is a steal!

Good to know! I'll go by there after work with a magnet, just to double check. The hinges were real stiff, which made it hard to tell by weight.

has anyone tried polishing the Al hood? that would be toight!

I think that would be illegal, you'd be causing accidents everywhere you went...

Thanks, I appreciate that. I'll find out this afternoon, if it isn't raining.

Oh, forgot to mention, the guy has no idea what it's made of. So he would still charge $100 for a steel one.
