Hey everyone, I am in the process of doing a Turbo II S5 engine into a 91' vert body. I'm getting all my engine parts packed up (as this project was put on hold about a year ago), and i found a Greddy header porcelain coated black, the entire thing gloss black porcelain coated, except for the gasket surfaces. Also, My T04 Garett turbo was also completely porcelain coated black. I was wondering, does this do anything for heat reduction? I had forgotten I even purchased them coated and am not sure if it's just for pimp factor, or if there is some technical reason.

I'll post pics tommorrow.

It should keep heat in to some degree, not sure how much of a difference it will make in that respect, but it does protect the metal and keep it from rusting or oxidizing etc.

someone here posted about HP gain with coated parts, but I think that was after coating the insides of their manifold. Coating, especially ceramic, should do a great job of helping lower temps.

No there is porcelin coating. My BBQ had porcelin coated grill and body. Guess what? after 3 months the stuff started to bubble and once that happened it all flaked off. F'n peice of **** BBQ. I bought a stainless generic grill and cut it with a hack saw to fit my BBQ that way I don't eat porcelin. Maybe it fairs better on a manifold. But I have my doubts

If the coatings work, they are done for performance. To lower underhood temperatures, reduce the chances of fatiguing the application, and to reduce turbo " lag " on exhaust applications. You can also do motor internals, we offer all of those services...

Here's a few pics, i'm pretty sure it's porcelain. My rotors are ceramic coated though.
