I bought a 13B-RE and i am picking it up tomorrow I need help with the following.

How could I check the motor to see if has any compression out of the car?

What can i do to lubricate the inside of the engine before an initial start up.

If i have to rebuild are S5 or S6 housings and rebuild kits interchangable?

I got a GT40R turbo for next to free this should give me some nice numbers but what i would like to know if it is a to4 flange or what?

ok add some details would you...like are you planning on using the omp? getting block off plates etc...are you going to have it rebuildt?..I'd remove water pump and inspect..replace with new one..fc or fd one fits. turbo manifolds from fd or fc will fit but depending on which one HKS tubular will not fit in FC frame. What are you going to use for ign..FC T2 coils will work well. ECU you will be using..s5 will run the RE but not to its potential..remember the RE ports are huge (think FD with large street port) Also flywheel..You must use the stock counter weight that is on the RE engine.

As for lubing engine..easy fill oil filter with oil fill engine with oil, fill lines to oil cooler with oil..crank over using air tool to prime the oil pump and get oil throught the system. Crack lines to watch oil flow to make sure that its making its way through system.. crack enough to get a small drip. easy referance...T4 flange is about the size of a pack of smokes.

Sorry for my crude questions. This is what i have

86 FC

13B-RE motor

Microtech LT-10s

Greddy FMIC

Greddy Profec B

4 Trailing Coils

S5 Flywheel

Centerforce Dual friction Clucth

And as far as lubrication i did not mean the oil system i meant the rotors do i use ATF or MMO to pre lube the engine internals. I am going to run premix to simplify things and block off plates I already have.

And about the rebuild I want to install it as is and just fire her up to get an idea of the motors condition for warranty reasons if the motor is junk im gonna use the warranty to hopefully get a running motor that will be rebuildable one not like one my friend bought that was complete trash

Gt40R is a T4.

Connect a bellhousing and starter to engine, then crank away for the compression test.

Goodluck with the engine, last RE I opened was complete trash.

Thanks for the reassurance 1Revvin you make me feel so secure now LOL. I am looking to rebuild it any ways but a nice rebuildable engine is a plus.

well 1 revvin 7you won i got the motor in started to remove the turbo and manifold when the turbo came loose a little water came out between the turbo and manifold and when i took it off the manifold was full of water. continued to take off the turbo manifold and the rotor housings where full of water also. Just my luck $1600 for a submerged motor LOL im in the process of sending it back now but leaves me out $240 in shipping costs.

You really should have the motor gone through before installing/using it.

What'd you pay for it? I wish I could go the RE route, but can't pass up the deal I'm getting on an REW.
