that "should" work on the stock intake also.

Its a pain to wrap and makes you all itchy, unless theres a better wrap now.



Also it's burnt through the header on the old bmw 4banger twice with wrap on, hasnt happened again with the holey pipes replaced and no wrap.

Alright forget the wrap. I like that heatshield idea better.

There is better ones that dont retain moisture. And include stainless steel ties to hold it together. I think with a good ceramic coat + the exhaust wrap would prove to be very worth it.

I like how mine turned out



not only does it increase the life of your turbo, but anything else in the engine compartment for that matter, and let's face it, a $150 dp is cheaper than any other major part on the motor.



Also I'd like to see the egt's that made automotoive grade stainless steel sag, I used to work at a stainless steel plant and have seen that stuff glow a whitish oarge, and still it took 500,000 lbs of force to flatten it out. Maybe you should be looking for a better quality downpipe.



Also I put some high temp rubberized underbody coater on the bottom of the wrap, so it didn't get all rotting and nasty to handle.

I never said it was automotove grade SS. It was mild steel, which happens to be what most headers and downpipes are made out of. Stainless is another story. It can take the heat, and it wont rust either.

box in the header with inconel and have an 'exhaust' for the box exiting out the bottom rear.
