I already ordered the header and pre silencer from rx-7store.net and I was wondering would using that exhaust wrap lower under hood temps. I have heard good things about it from the V8 guys and 4 banger ricers that swear bye it LOL. What you guys think

WORTH IT OR NOT ?

It will lower the temps...BUT at the price of decreasing header longevity, due to the higher temperature the headers will be. John

And if it gets wet it holds moisture on the exhaust. Can you say rust. Just get them coated.

I'm doing the wrap. The underhood heat the header produces is just too much. I'll spend the $190 every 5 years or whatever for a new header if I have to.

Bad idea. I know someone who raced an FB, and his headers started sagging after the first race.

wasn't someone designing a tube from one of the brake ducts, to run air to a box built around the exhaust, funneling air from the front of the car, cooling the exhaust, and isolating the hot air from the engine bay? who was that?

I think i'm going to wrap my dp, just because I'm making it myself, and it only costs close to zilch https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png Its just too hot under the hood https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub..._DIR#>/sad.png

That was 88integraLS.. I think he's wrapping it too along with all that ducting and heatshield box.

There's got to be something to do about the underhood temps. With the header on not wrapped or anything, both intake manifolds get HOT and even the cold air intake I have which is wrapped gets pretty hot toward the TB

i would just make a heat shield between the header and um everything else. racing beat has some thing like that for the holley's
