Maybe I can get some help over here.

I have a mystery oil leak that is spraying a fine mist onto the firewall on the passenger side.

I have inspected all the turbo feed and return lines, its not coming from there. The BOV is clean, so I figure its not the seals on the turbo. I have no inspection plate on, so I am thinking maybe a rear main seal leak. The engine only has about 4K on it but I guess it is possible.

Can anyone think of anywhere else it could be coming from?

DJ

PS- the car is a 90 GXL with a TII swap, no emissions, stock turbo.

do you have ABS? i could see it being the inspection plate, hard to guess without seeing exactly where it is.

No ABS (thank god)

No A/C, even if I had kept it, this is not Esther or PAG oil, it is engine oil.

I'm really thinkin it might be the rear main. Great.

I didn't even think of the front trans seal.

I will check the level on that. The oil level goes down normally so I did not think it was the rear main, but you never know. Plus an oil spray can make a serious mess like this even though the level may go down insignificantly.

Dammit either way the tranny has to come out, yay. I guess now I can out in that ACT pressure plate I've had for over a year, or I can always get together all the TII driveline and put it in (like I should!!!)
