i've got an 88 tii. when ever i'm driving at highway speeds and punch it, lets say in third or fourth gear and my boost is topped out for 3-4 seconds i hear a loud rattle noise from my foot area. it sounds like a heatshield rattling (but i have no heatshield). could that noise be caused becaused the turbo is overboosting. any ideas would really help. this is my first turbo rx-7 and i'm still learning the inns and outs of turbo. thanx

 

what kinda of gas are you running? it sounds like preignition to me

i'm running top fuel. 94 octane (sometimes w/octane booster)

 

on some occasions when i'm low on cash i'll run 89 octane

 

89+18psi=boom

 

where does it say 18psi?
