Hi all,

I am new to the board, but not new to the Rotary! Back in the day I had a 1st Gen RX 7 an 81 12A, I had put a Rotary Engineering Header and silencer on, some rims & tires, and a few other misc goodies. Unfortunately I sold the car many moons ago and have missed it ever since.

Well now the time has come to purchase another RX 7! So I have been looking at a few 2nd gens. I am currently about to purchase a 91 that has some upgrades like the Racing Beat header & exhaust system, and some aftermarket wheels. The car runs strong, has probably had some motor work done, as the housings have been painted. The history of the car is unknown, but it has some issues:

There is a toggle switch hooked up that makes the "hold" light come on in the dash..I dunno what that is for?

The A/C is in place and the dealer tells me it looks like there is a problem from the switch to the unit? Switch doesn't light up when depressed. They say the compressor is good, but the blower dosen't come on?

Looks like the car was gutted at one time, some of the plastic parts are missing, the seats are incorrect, and the glove box dosen't match.

Lastly, the clutch pedal seems to have a bit of play before it engages, and when down shifting it is a little hard to get it right into gear.

Any suggestions or comments?

Thanks,

Mitch

when shifting does it feel like the engine isn't dropping revs when you clutch in to shift (clutch not disengaging) or does it grind and make you have to push real hard to get it in gear (synchro issue)

The real question is how much work do you want to do on this car? If little then move on. If you want a project car that you don't care if it runs daily then go for it if the price is low.
