hey i have an issue with my 90 GTU (Atuo) with 73,XXX.

I just recently bought the car that sat for about 2 months the previous owner could not get it to start which i found out it was flooded and severely.

So i deflooded the motor it fired right up, new plugs, new coils, wires, and battery.

After letting it run the rps dropped to about 550 then it sputtered and died again.

I finally got it to run again and stay idling around 750, but when i put if in drive the rpms drop to 550 or lower and the car sputters a bit, i put it back in park and the rpms go 750-1000.

In park and neutral i can give it gas and the rpms with go all the way to redline with a slight hesitation around initial throttle engage.

But in gear (reverse, drive, etc) once i give it throttle the motor begins to sputter then eventually stall, unless the rpms are high around 3k but it eventually will drop down and stall. The car will also run on it's own while in gear if i don't give it throttle, with some hiccuping in between but will just move slowly and stay on.

I am thinking it may be the injectors along with he fuel pump and or possibly a vacuum leak but the engine light does not come on. or a coolent seal, the apex seals seem fine at the moment.

I can turn the AC on full blast and the rpms just drop about slightly.

Later today i plan to take off the BAC and clean it a bit.

Any ideas guys!?

really need help with this, and i am not giving up

thanks

air leak in the lower intake manifold, check for a cracked gasket in either the frount or rear secondary port area as i have seen this problem happen there before wich causes your exact problem

okay so i did the carb cleaner check and sprayed around the general area and the rpms smoothed out for a bit, so it is in that general area, and thanks a bunch.

Now i have a question(s), how do i go about replacing the lower intake manifold seals?

Should i just shell out the cash and replace all the manifold seals?

Or are there any quick fix cheap solutions i should look out for.

Thanks again
