The S5 is at about 8800 and in autocrossing this car over the last 12 years I use it a LOT

Your clutch may explode before the motor.

I let my friend drive my S5 and i saw him hit about 8500 when he hit some loose gravel on the road. I wasn't too happy but i knew that once would not kill it.

well lets say you happen to have an s5 n/a, what would break first from being over reved? and how many rpm's could the stock tranny take?

all you are doing is running the engine with the clutch in. you would not be moving the clutch at all. would you? i may be wrong here.



just the engine is rotating at certain rpm's.

a seal might go first. But don't over rev and there is no problem.
