Well, my 1988 TII which I just bought in February got rear ended while I was sitting in traffic, the guy hit me in a lifted jeep doing about 30mph.

My car is jacked up pretty bad. They might salvage my car when they see the damage, and if thats the case, I don't think I will have enough money to pay off my loan and get the car fixed as well.

I was actually thinking of just salvaging it and using any extra money as a down payment for a motorcycle, but I would really like to keep my seven.

Anyway, the real question is...does insurance cover aftermarket parts? Or will they just replace it with OEM stuff?

Some insurance will cover them to an extent and some will ask you to declare them up front, depending on how many of the aftermarket parts were damaged you may want to buy it back from them and part it out, they'll prolly sell if back to you for $500 or so.

Just remember you don't have to accept wutever the insurance company's offer, that's a common misconception.

On two occasions I was originally offered half what I ended up getting, one time I had to get a lawyer, but it was worth it. Insurance company's play the odds, 9 out of 10 people will take the first offer and they bank on that.

I know how you feel. I lost a TII because of one of them.
