Thats where the corner peice of the apex seal digs into the housing. All used housings comming off of engines with stock mazda seals will have that.

j9fd3s- I never said they were re-usable. I was just adding to the information and from what I know the corner peice is what creats that scoring on all stock engine's housings. It sucks that mazda had to make seals like that. I beleive two peice seals don't do that but take longer to break in with used housings.

 

so can I reuse them or polish them up and use them for my crab homes? lol if it digs in there with the original seals Why would I not be able to reuse them?
